Children beauty pageants should be banned or not???

Let me tell you first what the child beauty pageant is about. A child beauty pageant is a beauty contest focusing on contestants who are under 16 years old. During the competition girls show their outfits, make-up and talents being judged on the way they look to receive the prizes and to become the most beautiful winner.

Here is another question that bothers me: how child beauty pageant can affect girl self-development and should these pageants be banned? This is the topic that I have been thinking a lot for a long period of time…
Some days ago I found an article that relates to banning child beauty pageants in Russia. It was more than a pleasure for me to write a comment about this topic.http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/03/27/russian-city-bans-child-beauty-pageants

This article tells us about how controversial lawmaker, Vitaly Molonov, initiated legislation banning children’s beauty pageants as psychologically damaging to their participants. So, what I am thinking about it??? How would I respond to this article????

I definitely support the legislation that is designed to protect young ladies because these competitions are not only risk factors for severe psychological problems, but also it does damage for their body and teaches them to value their personal appearance more than education or personality. Exploitation in child beauty pageants can ruin a girl’s self-esteem forever and can be dangerous for their psychological balance. I believe that child beauty pageants do not include any internal values as family, education, love but teach the kid to value external beauty and personal appearance more than anything else. Young ladies become less concerned with developing their internal values but prefer to determine who is the most beautiful and try to increase their self-esteem. They are raised to focus on glamour, looks, provocative outfits that are not suitable for their age and to concentrate on external values of beauty instead of family and love importance.

Pageants do more harm than good.

«I think people who hold such contests should be kept away from children. I grew up in a normal era and then no one compared children by their outer appearance, like dogs,» Milonov said. I agree with him and I can add that child beauty pageants promote value of outward beauty more than anything else and based on defame image that young females should be judged by other adults. Young females should not be judged by others! They are just too young to be judged by their looks, poise, ability and confidence.I

t was my pleasure to get to know that lawmakers in Russia’s second city of Saint Petersburg have passed legislation banning children’s beauty pageants!

I can state that if there is something good that a pageant can give a child, anything else can give more.
