The Original sign of our money is this ₱ mean peso but most of the people use the code: PHP because peso sign is really hard for them to type in the computer or typewriter. A Peso subdivided into 100 centavos.
In 1949, the Central Bank of the Philippines took over paper money issue. Its first notes were overprints on the Victory Treasury Certificates. These were followed in 1951 by regular issues in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 centavos, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 pesos.
The lowest money denomination is 5 cents, while highest is ₱1000
in our ₱1000 bill are the faces of yesterday’s politician which some of them are considered heroes. Jose Abad Santos, Vicente Lim and Josefa Llanes Escoda. In all of our money my favourite is ₱1 because Dr. Jose Rizal Which is our national heroes is there on the coins. It’s good to know that the younger generation will remember him and his contribution in this country.
Back in world war II, were using different money because Philippines was colonized by Spaniards and Japanese. The Coin was introduced by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. They bought here coins from Europe. Teston or four-reales silver coin. The teston became the de facto unit of trade between Spaniards and Filipinos before the founding of Manila in 1574.
As today the value of ₱40 = $1 USD
FOOD and labor here in the Philippines is really cheaper than anywhere else.
