Nis is the second biggest city in Serbia. The capital city is Belgrade and Nis is located on the South part of state.
It's very close to Bulgaria and Macedonia, only 2 hours away by car.
My town is very old, it was the birthplace of Constantine the Great, who brought the Edict of Milan in 313.
Nis as also the rest of south Serbia, was under the Turkish occupation for 5 centuries. It left lots Turkish words in language, tradition, architecture.
We have many important monuments which tell a particular story about history of town. There is Mediana, residence od Constantine the Great. Huge fortress is located in the strict center and presents one of the main symbols of city. It is the favourite place of it's citizens and is the biggest park. The most fascinating monument is Skull Tower. Placed on the old road to Istanbul, and made by heads of Serbian soldiers in war againt Turkey. This is the unique building in world of this kind, and every year there is certain amount of people, tourists who come to visit it.
All the galleries are located in center and there is big theatre, lots of cinemas.
The guest of city should try Serbian kitchen, for sure. There is also famous alchoholic drink - rakia, made of several different sorts of fruits. The best restaurants and cafees are placed in old part of city centre, named Kazandzijsko sokace. There is always warm atmosphere.

So, I can guarante you... You will be impressed by the history of town and our hospitality. You won't be hungry in any moment, and you will experience great fun and parties.
