Ladies and Gents, time for self-understanding

The Big Five or The Five Factor Model, (FFM) is a classification system regarding to five broad domains. It is a consistent scale used to describe human personality based upon the empirical evidence generated from comprehensive interviews, self-descriptive statements and observations.

1. Openness to experience: the degree to which individuals show appreciation for new experience. People with a diversity of interests tend to develop a higher degree of openness. They are intellectually curious, creative, imaginative and independent, and favor a broad range of activities over a strict routine.

2. Conscientiousness: the degree of concentration of people on their duties. For those who are highly conscientious, they tend to show self-discipline, responsible, well-organized, dependable, and dedicate to the pursuit of goal.

3. Extraversion: the extent to which individuals feel comfortable when interacting with other people. Extraverts tend to develop a strong social network as they are outgoing, sociable and energetic and talkative. It is correlated with leadership skills, risk-taking and eagerness for competition and achievement.

4. Agreeableness: the tendency to comply with rules and trust someone. Individuals with this trait are more likely to be submissive, highly cooperative, interdependence, helpful, and friendly. They are compassionate and show empathy to the people whom they trust.

5. Neuroticism: the degree of emotional stability and the resistance to pressure. People who are neurotic tend to be emotionally sensitive. They are vulnerable to stress and stimulus, and develop anxiety and depression easily.
