I just like write shortly how good place is for marathon Tenerife and other Canarian Islands. At first, the is extremely cheap to do it. I spend 3000-6000 kCal per day and for recovery of this energy I spend in reality 200-400 EUR per month. Off course here are other spendings for living, for the internet I pay 3 times more than in other parts in EU, but direct spending for food are very small. Also I have extraordinary small spending for emotional recovery, because here is really very beautiful nature and best for living climate. For my main food, avocados I pay only 2-3 eur per kilo, local bananas are perfect and it is regularly 0.7-1 eru per kilo, fennel is free in mountains and 3 eur per kg in shops. Fresh figs and dates regularly 3-5 eur and quality is perfect. Local arugula 0.75 eur per 100 gr and the quality is extremely perfect. Spanish oranges 0.6 eur per kg, local eco product 1 eur, quality of local mandarins is also very high. Apples are problematic, we have cheap mass production for 0.9 eur per kilo, but it is trash, local superapples from Ruigomez are rare and cost 3 eur per kilo. Local wild tomato is best in the world, just catch it, from the shops you get EU tomato per 1-1,2 eur and it is little better than regular EU product. Salads are good even in the shops and 1-2.5 per kilo. Local goat milk 1.2 eur per litre and quality is perfect. During writing this is hard to understand why local people eat here a lot of bread, it is little bad local habit. About cheeses I can write a little book, but for regular eating are the best cheeses 5-9 eur per kilo, but quality is amazing. Fish are start from 2-3 eur per kilo, but good ones 6-8 eur. Fresh shrimps about 10 eur, tuna in the same level. Meat is the same here are in anywhere in EU, but we have spanish jamon serano and the prices starts form 12 eur per kilo and it is really good for recovery.
Summary is simple here is very good place for eating very well and with very reasonable prices, just select the places where you get it all.... And study the local living style, it is little different than in EU...
