OMG! This is my subject! I feel like country-by-country the term “weird hobby” is so extremely different. In Russia, if you participate in Miss Russia it's a perfectly normal thing to do. In big pageant countries, girls die for getting involved in pageants and this is considered a cool hobby. When I won Miss Estonia all people I knew freaked out.
