When You Don't Need to Tip

Tipping for good service is important, but make sure you don’t get duped. For some, this could happen while staying at a hotel or eating out at a restaurant — and the mistake is surprisingly common.
Think back to the last time you ordered room service. Did you offer a tip on top of your total?
If so, you probably gave a very generous 30% to 40% tip. That’s because in many hotels an automatic base gratuity of 18% to 20% is often included with room service — even if there's a space to add it on th…

More than anything, we’re crowd followers

I was reading an interesting article on what researchers are learning from big data on how shoppers behave. Buying and selling in financial markets isn’t much different from the grocery store in many ways so there are plenty of lessons to take away. This one, in particular, was striking. Many generic drugs are identical to name-brand medicine so it’s a great place to study why consumers prefer one over the other. The main theory was that people didn’t understand that Aspirin is just acetylsalic…

I will not go into the technical issue of the research drug vs generic drug, I focus on the herding behavior of human beings, the example that we bring is equal to panic in trading.

+1 Liked: Very interesting topic! IMHO crowd-following in Forex trading is a one-way ticket to margin call ;-) Happy trading :-)

Relationship Dealbreakers! Is it love or money ?

The next time someone approaches you in a bar and asks for your digits, they may not be after your phone number. For those seeking a soul mate, the following financial dealbreakers may surprise you.
Low Credit Score
According to a new study, about 30% of women and 20% of men surveyed won’t marry someone with a bad score. Because credit scores are proving more important these days, singles are ever concerned that their partner’s low score could negatively impact their ability to buy a home or car…

Love/Money? The Best is Yet to Come! Task 13

For love or for money? To be honest with you, when I was small I was dreaming of becoming an astronaut. So, that doesn’t answer the question… Obviously, I didn’t become an astronaut, but it was a wonderful and unusual childhood dream. Back to reality, right now I’m on a path to building both, career and personal life. My professional life or I guess financial independence is very important to me. I don’t see anything wrong with enjoying and taking pride in making money. As long as …

Absolutely! Women face a lot of pressure these days. As you said, we have to be everything and at the same time project happiness and not show any stress. I think pressure was taken off men and put more on women. And that’s why you see a lot more quality women than men. It’s not easy. But it looks like you managing it well..:)

Top 5 Tips for Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur

I came across tips given by a billionaire and New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, for becoming a successful entrepreneur. I thought I would share them with you whether you own a business, climbing a corporate ladder or trying to find your path in life. Michael Bloomberg shares his own experience: 1. Take risks. Life is too short to spend your time avoiding failure. In 1981, at the age of 39, I was fired from the only full-time job I'd ever had - a job I loved. But I never let myself lo…

Task 11 - Changing the World

To me, being an entrepreneur means being in control of your destiny. It’s creatively defining your own life and happiness through business and partnerships. It’s not following anyone else’s footsteps and standards, but creating your own road for others to follow. It means not settling for anything average and not accepting another's definition of success for your life. You choose instead to define, and then pursue your own success. Being entrepreneur means realizing that if you don’t control yo…

I completely agree with you, Nadia. That’s why most businesses fail within first 5 years. Most people are not prepared for tremendous challenges that new business brings. Success in business comes with heavy price. Do you have your own business?
