My Three Tips for Preparing for the Summer!
First, it all starts in your head! Brain is the most powerful tool one can have and you need to have the right mind set to get that beautiful body you want for the summer. Picture the end result and what you would look like. Commit your mind before you can commit your body and make your healthy habits part of your life.
Second, about 70% of your good looks and health is your diet. I stay away from alcohol, because alcohol is empty calories and it makes me very hungry. Next, determine what your weakness is, whether alcohol, sweets, fried foods, carbohydrates or something else. We all have those devilish little cravings that turn into unneeded pounds. Once you aware of your weakness, control it as much as you can. For me personally, it’s sweets. I have sweet tooth. And to be honest with you, I’m not the one to talk about trying to “control” my sweet tooth, but I give up other tasty things to eat my sweets. But at least I’m aware and honest!
Also, it’s alright to cheat once in a while, but generally watch what you eat. I stay away from fried foods, carbohydrates (especially bread) and any junk food in any form or shape. I’m a big fan of sashimi and vegetable non-cream based soups. When I think of food, I think of quality and not quantity. After all, what you are is what you eat. And don’t forget to add variety to keep you entertained and prevent boredom in your diet.
Third, of course it’s exercise. You need to find what exercise routine works for you. It might be going to the gym, working out at home, engaging in some sport activities outside or even walking your dog. To stay with your exercise routine, it has to work for YOU and not someone else. Personally, I walk to work and back which takes at minimum an hour per day. Also, living in a big city like New York forces you to walk a lot. I enjoy lifting weights during my lunch office hours I spent at the gym. I also add some variety to my routine, like spinning classes, walking in the evenings, tennis, golf and swimming. Generally, once you get started and set your healthy habits, it’s easier to keep up with it. Again, add variety to your daily routine and make exercise part of your life.
And the best for last, your diet and exercise should not only get healthy to prepare you the summer, but it should be your way of life. Embrace it! After all, you are the first beneficiary of your own health and good looks, of course… Enjoy your summer!!!
