Economic Calendar vs Speculation

Hello all,
Lets talk a little bit about the impact of the economic calendar and the impact on market.
The weeks ahead will bring a lot of speculation with this core data on investors mind:
a) 21 September - FED interest rate decision
b) 15 September - SNB and BOE interest rate decision
c) 20 September - BOJ interest rate decision
d) 22 September - RBNZ interest rate decision

DAY 20 - Market Speculation

As a trader we have to understand that trading is market speculation and we buy to sell back later & sell to buy back later to this market. We should not be emotionally attached to what we buy or sell. We should be happy to do either, when the situation tells us.
When we take part, we are entering an auction, so we must have a clear plan of what we intend to do & have the discipline to follow that plan.

Risk-Off sentiment ahead of the NFP on Friday

It's the fifth day in a row for the fall of the Eur/Usd pair with 70 pips lost just in the last 24 Hours (from the time of this post).
Eur/Usd has felt the impact of both the NFP pre-news speculation and the lower than expected data from the CPI Flash Estimate y/y (0.2% vs. 0.4% expected) and the Core CPI Flash Estimate y/y (0.9% vs. 1.0% the forecast).

Intervention in India

I find it sad that FX intervention has to be reached for in India. When reserves are finite, and the numbers are in the public domain, it is very difficult to see this strategy working successfully on its own. Intervention can really only be justified as a viable option when it can buy time for the fundamentals that are causing the selling, to change; but, the authorities are under huge pressure to ramp up their response to the crisis, and their options are limited.
