My drive through the Western Ghats.

This week I had gone to explore the Western Ghats. For those who don't know the Western Ghats I am including a Wikipedia citation.
" The area is one of the world's ten "Hottest biodiversity hotspots" and has over 7,402 species of flowering plants, 1,814 species of non-flowering plants, 139 mammal species, 508 bird species, 179 amphibian species, 6,000 insects species and 290 freshwater fish species; it is likely that many undiscovered species live in the Western Ghats. At least 325 globally threatened species occur in the Western Ghats."

You need a risk taking ability to go deeper in the mountain range simply because it's dense forest filled with variety of wild animals and you are driving along the edges of cliffs most of the time. Roadside drive instructions keep warning from time to time that any time big boulders and rocks may come collapsing on roads, Wild animals like Leopard and Tigers may cross the roads. Thus you are advised to avoid stoppages in journey and try to complete it as early and as safely as possible.This is where adventure of driving comes in picture where you are on your own if any thing goes wrong caught between stiff cliff on one side and deep valley on the other. The curvy roads keep you on edge of seat all the time while visibility can also be challenge if mist happens to cover the drive way. If you are a kind of person who loves to drive to adventure land then this is where you should be heading.
