If you are scare of spider and you kill them, probably if a spider is very aggressive you won't kill it and you will go away leaving it alive.
Then the aggressive spider will survive and will reproduce giving the gen of this aggressive behavior to its descendent.
The pacific spider gen will disappear and repeating the process over the year you will get only aggressive spiders.

That is gen evolution adapted to survive.

The same process can be extended to human beings. If in a war the pacific people is killed and only survive the more aggressive, or even the more ruthless, it is expected that the gens that determinate this characteristics will survive and the pacific ones disappear.

By repeating the process we could conclude that the war contribute to a worse world in the incoming generations with more ruthless and aggressive gens among the population and the descendents of those participating in this wars.

The war itself it is something bad for the whole mankind and in a globalised world it means that sometime in the future even if you are pacific your descendent would receive this bad gens.

The war is something that affects negatively to everyone independently of the country where it is been taking place. Every war should be declared illegally and against the mankind.

In the other hand, when a country attacks to civilians it only contribute to kill pacific gens and in the long term to a more aggressive and ready to defend themselves population with more probability of losing the war in the long term.

The longer a war is and the more civilians are killed would then shift the result of this war and the attackers would be defeated.

We are creating a world of people ready for war, where pacific people is killed and murderers win....
