FOMC rate hike

On Wednesday, FED raise hike interest rate from 1% to 1.25%. This is the second time FED has hiked rate this year. Its likely to hike another one in December. The hike has introduced volatility in USD probably because the hike is already priced in or because of Trump's desire for weaker USD, EURUSD has moved from around 1.1200 at FOMC hike to 1.1285 , then fall to 1.114.

Will FED hike rate?

The most important economics data of the month from US viz. Non Farm Payrolls, came out yesterday and it was disappointing. USD fell and EURUSD moved to 1.1282. Other data are somewhat mild. So, the question arise whether in the coming FOMC meet, will FED hike federal interest rate? It is generally agreed among many financial experts that FED will hike rate thrice. One hike has already happened in march. So when will the next two hikes will happen? Will it be 2nd hike in June and third hike in N…

USD/JPY Target 113

Despite having appreciated against the Japanese Yen yesterday, the US Dollar still retreated from its intraday high, as it lacked momentum to pierce the second resistance level. Nevertheless, the USD/JPY pair has the opportunity to pierce this supply level today, with the 112.95 level expected to be the intraday high, as it marks the descending channel's upper border. The given trend-line is also reinforced by the upper Bollinger band and the monthly R1, while technical indicators are now giving…

16/03/2017

The Fed rose its interest rate from 0.75% to 1% on March the 15th meeting.
Fed’s Chair Yellen played down expectations that the central bank would endorsed a tighter frame for rate hikes this year.
Ms. Yellen stated that:
We haven’t changed the outlook. We think we’re moving on the same course we’ve been on.

The Fed is not sharing the same kind of optimism widespread among stock market investors and consumption and business surveys.
Ms Yellen revived that inflation will now move higher than 2…

15/03/2017

Today, March the 15th 2017 offers a busy economic and political calendar.
In the Eurozone, investors look forward to the Dutch elections, while in the US, the Federal Reserve is expected to announce an interest rate hike at its monetary policy meeting.
March the 15th correspond to the Ides of March on the Roman calendar. A date that marked the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC.
More than 2000 years after Caesar’s death a couple of events are in stake on this precise same day of the year.…

All eyes on the Fed!

The GBP was the strongest currency of the day, as the Brexit uncertainty factor slowly fades away.. Although, all eyes seem to be on the FOMC Statement, later today. Honestly, I do not think that this will be an event, since it won’t even be complemented with a press conference. Friday’s NFP should be more volatile.

Economic Calendar - Feb 2:

Tomorrow might be a big day for the Pound!
@ 12PM we have the Official Bank Rate decision, which is expected to remain the same (0.25%).
@ 12:30PM Bo…

Have Fed Policy Decisions Propped Up Equities?

The stock market rises on days when the FOMC releases its policy statement, probably as a result of some uncertainty being removed for market participants. This pattern has existed for more than 30 years. The Fed's ability to "jawbone" the market higher is no more exceptional now than it was during any prior bull market.Morgan Stanley's (NYSE:MS) chief economist this week stated that the Fed's low-rate policy and "jawboning" are responsible for most of the stock market's gains since 2009. In doi…

Fed Interest Rate Decision

Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) members vote on where to set the rate. Traders watch interest rate changes closely as short term interest rates are the primary factor in currency valuation.
A higher than expected rate is positive/bullish for the USD, while a lower than expected rate is negative/bearish for the USD.

FED - Interest Rates - Janet Yellen

Saludos!!

Did Another Interest-Rate-Hike Forecast Just Bite The Dust?

Hawkish commentary from Fed officials in recent weeks has fueled speculation that the central bank may be poised to raise rates for a second time. Maybe so, but the newly retired governor of India’s central bank warns that the low- and negative-interest-rate regimen that’s become a staple in monetary policies around the world since 2008 won’t be easily reversed. “Often when monetary policy is really easy, it becomes the residual policy of choice,” Raghuram Rajan …
